Some of you have been asking about my daily routine.
We are a pretty flexible bunch, but we do need some order around here sometimes.
So, Monday through Friday, this is how a typical day at our house goes.
-
I wake up between 7:30 and 8:00.
Coincedentily, our city water also comes on at this time.
So, Mommy and I get up and get dressed and start a load of laundry.
Then Mommy washes any dishes left over from last night and I run around the house and burn off some energy! Daddy sleeps until the very last minute, rolls out of bed, and is off to work by 9:00.
-
Mommy and I have breakfast around 8:30.
For some reason, this morning, spoons are hilarious!
They are just such fun to eat oatmeal and raisins with!
And if you can commondeer Mommy's spoon
when she isn't looking, all the better!
It's so much cooler to eat with a big spoon!
But it doesn't fit in my mouth too well!
Ah breakfast, such a fun time of day!
Then we move on to "Music Time"
which means Mommy and I sing and dance
along with one of my CD's.
This one is currently my favorite.
-
While I'm singing and dancing my heart out,
Mommy hangs up the laundry, cleans the kitchen, and vaccuums.
You would not believe the crumbs that just one toddler can distribute throughout the house!
I am so talented at this!
Here is the "after" picture, Mommy is not going to post a "before" picture -- no way!
But, She did enjoy taking this one, this is the one time of the day when there is a chance that the whole house is in order.... ahhh... that feels good.
--
Notice where I am at this point... can you find me?
Yup, I'm in the pack and play sleeping.
After Music Time, at around 11:00 I always cuddle up with Pooh Bear for some R&R.
-
Usually that means putting something in the slow cooker.
-
Then after an hour or so I wake up!
Look at my sleepy face!
What did I miss?
Anything interesting?
Then it's time for lunch.
Today I am having an egg, dried fruit, and yogurt.
I really frustrate Mommy with my eating habits,
but these are a few things I will usually eat.
After lunch I get bundled up in my jeans, sweater, jacket, and blanket.
Mommy loads me into the stroller and hoists it down the stairs for some outside time.
You can tell at this point I'm not interested in having my picture taken,
it is time to GO! I have been inside too long already!
-
Often we go to one of the parks in town or to the little playground in our neighborhood.
But today we are going downtown instead for three reasons:
Firstly, I need new shoes because my feet
are growing by leaps and bounds (no pun intended).
Secondly, there is a nice store downtown having a shoe sale.
Thirdly, we are going to visit Daddy and Uncle Ruslan at work.
(Check out all the -ly's -- Mommy has worked with Brits too long!)
-
So, anyway, off we go on our adventure!
-
We arrive home having successfully found a good deal on shoes,
visited Daddy, and run around burning off lots of energy!
Then we come home and I climb around on the furniture.
Ok, that's not really part of the routine; it's just what happened on this partiuclar day!
But, Mommy had other plans for the afternoon.
After playing outside, she thinks it's a good idea to take another nap.
And, well, actually, I agree.
But please don't tell her that!
Once I'm out of my outside clothes,
I am ready for a cozy nap around 4:00.
-
While I'm sleeping she checks email, fb, and transcribes all of my dictation onto this blog.
And enjoys a cup of coffee and some peace and quiet if she can.
Then after an hour or so, I wake up...
And I know right away ... it's Art Time!
Today I'm adding to my art notebook!
-
Side Note: Notice the costume change -- I have to have at least one of these a day too.
As you can see, I am practicing my circles.
If I were stranded on a desert island with only 5 things...
I would be sure to have crayons and paper!
Then, I have Nose Picking Time!
Just kidding! Mommy couldn't resist this funny picture!
-
Disclaimer: We do not in any way encourage nose picking. Sometimes it just happens.
Anyway, I look forward to Art Time every day!
Sometimes I use colored pencils, or cut outs from colored paper, or happy dough,
but it's always really fun!
-
Then we have Reading Time.
Right now we are working through a collection of George Herbert's poetry.
I really enjoy his sacramental symbolism.
But, I prefer Donne's wit to Herbert's analogies.
-
Just kidding! Gottcha!
-
No, really we read an assortment of Brown Bear, Caps for Sale, God Loves You, Hungry Puppy, ABC's, 123's, Colors, etc.
-
Then I help Mommy get ready for dinner and set the table.
On M, W, and F Daddy comes home to join us for dinner around 7:00.
But, on Tues. and Thurs. he doesn't get home until later.
-
Then after dinner I have free time.
I like to play with my toys, play with Daddy, and just hang out.
Tonight, we are looking at some pictures of my cousin Alise together.
-
Isn't she cute?
Wow!
Take a minute and reflect on how cute she is!
Thanks.
-
Then it's time for a bath and pj's.
There is suppose to be a very cute video of me dancing in the bathtub here.
Unfortunately, despite trying 4 times, it is not uploading for some reason.
I will try to post it later.
But, in the mean time, use your imagination and imagine me acting like a crazy monkey in the bathtub. Got it? It's pretty silly looking.
Thanks.
-
Then Mommy brushes my teeth, which I tolerate only because I know that next
we will read Good Night Moon and A Child's Bedtime Poems.
-
And by 9:00 it's time for a cuddle and a good night's sleep!
-
THE END
Kate, I am tired for you just looking at this post. For a minute there I panicked when I thought you were really reading Herbert and Donne to her. I hoped she would still have fun with Alise who can barely follow along with the rhymes and imagery of Dr. Seuss. You make me laugh! Huge hug to all of you from us!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! No way! I barely have the attention span for a baby book. I'm usually turning the pages ahead of Mommy! The Herbert book was just out because Mommy was packing. When I started looking at it, she thought it made a funny photo op! :)I'm pretty stuck on Brown Bear at the moment! There will be time for other books later!
ReplyDeleteHi Ada, I agree with you that spoons are quite funny. Just wait until you hang one on your nose :-) (But that's usually best with an empty spoon rather than one with oatmeal in it :-)
