Foodie Fear Factor

As some of you know my Mommy has a long list of things that she wants to learn to do like knit a baby hat, use a pottery wheel, make a quilt etc. One of the things she has wanted to master for a long time, but been very nervous about, is making yeast breads. Somehow all of the rising and kneading and punching-down seemed a bit overwhelming.
-
Recently, Aunt Allene gave her this book called Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day.
So, Mommy has finally faced her fears and started making yeast bread from scratch.
With this method it is actually pretty simple, and it is really good too.
-

She managed to make several loaves last week, with my help naturally! I sit beside her on the counter and make fun designs in the flour that gets everywhere! It is lots of fun! So far she has made sourdogh, baguettes, flat bread, and garlic and herb bread
-
... and blueberry bread which is my favorite so far!

Next she is going to try a rosemary ring.
This make take several attempts because it looks a bit complicated...
If it looks at all decent she will take some pictures.
-
Also, Mommy FINALLY conquered the terribly embarresing pile of laundry - odds and ends -half-unpacked suitcases - who knows what else that had accumulated in one corner of the bedroom! Which means that Tour de House will continue with more pictures later on today!
Unfortunately, it is proving to be longer and more grueling than Tour de France!
But, the next pictures will be great!
Don't miss it!

  1. Do you have a kitchenaid mixer? We have a cookbook that came with ours and Nathan uses recipes in there to make homemade bread. He says it is pretty easy. You are such the cook Kathy, I'm so impressed!!
