"Smarties"
Did you know I have a birthday coming up?
Well, it's actually still over 3 months away.
But, my Mommy has started making some plans.
This year I'm going to have three "Smarties" or small parties instead of one big one!
Smarty #1
The first one is going to be thanksgiving weekend when my Mommy's family will all be in town. We are going to have a puppy party. (Btw ... Rumor has it I will be getting a puppy, but it's a secret!) This is the kind of puppy Daddy wants to get!
And Mommy will attempt these cupcakes!
Arent' these great? The dog faces are made out of rolled out candies!
-
Smarty #2
Then on my actual birthday we are going to do some kind of fun outing. This depends a little on the weather. It may be a picnic or the zoo or maybe something indoors. Sometimes December in MS can be really nice, but sometimes it is cold.
-
Smarty #3
Then, in January Grandpa and Grandma are coming to visit! So I'm going to have another smarty then! Isn't that great! I think that one is going to be a butterfly & ladybug party. I'm really into butterflies right now. My Mommy has some ideas for that one too. Take a look...
Mommy definitely wants to make these!
Maybe these garlic bread butterflies too.
And she really wants to make something like this butterfly cake!

My Poor, Poor Little Babies
As you know, I love my babies. I love to change their diapers, take off their clothes, and feed them. I also tell them bye-bye and kiss them when I leave the house. Unfortunately, two of my dear babies had tragic accidents this week.
First, Rosie (the doll Aunt Allene made for my Mommy), suffered a sever concussion when I tried to give her a bath. As you can see, the bruising is quite severe on her forehead. Mommy never lets me take Rosie in the bathtub with me. So, I tried to give her a bath in the sink. This is apparently not a good idea. Poor Rosie.
I want to apologize for the graphic nature of this next picture. It is not suitable for all audiences.
Viewer discretion is advised.
Poor, poor Aishe. I am simply overcome with grief. I brought her to my Mommy today and said, "Ouey! Mommy kiss!" Mommy kissed her, but it didn't do her any good.

So, tonight we are going to pack up these two poor babies and take them to Grammie's clinic for some first aid. I think Aishe will be okay, but Rosie may have some lasting scars. I'll let you know when they return from Grammies' house.
Get well wishes and sympathy notes can be left on this blog or emailed to me. I will pass them along to Rosie and Aishe.

Daddy passed his exam ... and got a tablet to celebrate!
Daddy has been wanting one of these tablets for a long time. It's a way of drawing digital art.
Basically you draw on a special surface with a special pen, and the picture shows up on your computer. It was his reward to himself for passing his exam!

Somebody Special Had a Birthday!
Monday Night ...
A Good Sunday...
A good Sunday involves time to sit and read stories.
-
A good Sunday involves time to play outside and enjoy nature!
-
A good Sunday involves time with friends at church!
These are my church friends Amanda and Anna Claire.
-
We play together in the nursery each Sunday
These containers are actually for toys, but we like to play in them!
-
Anna Claire demonstrates how to sit in a toy bin.
-
Oops! And that is what happens next.
Luckily she is laughing about this!
Foodie Favorites
Aunt Ginny came to visit this weekend! I gave her a big smile and a hug when we picked her up at the airport! And I started saying "Ginny" more clearly while she was here!
-
We did a lot of fun things playing games, shopping, hanging out, and eating some special meals!
-
This week Mommy has been working on the sweet-breads from her cookbook. This is a carmel roll. She also made cinnamon peacan rolls that were very good.-
To make up for the not-so-healthy sweet breads. Mommy asked Daddy to work some of his magic on the grill and we had lovely grilled zucchini with our dinner. I loved them!
Swing-side?
One of the things I say a lot is, "Swing-side?"
The literal translation is, "My dear Mother,
would you be so kind as to take me somplace outside
with swing such as Grammie's house or the park?"
-
Well, guess what happened on Saturday?
I went outside in our backyard...
and there was a swing set of my very own!
It is my Birthday/Christmas present from Grammie and Gramps.
Mommy picked out the one she wanted last week,
and Gramps and Ompa came over and put it up.
-
I ran outside and shrieked with delight and disbelief!
Then I decided to try it out!
I hear there is also a slide and a see-saw that are coming next weekend!
-
Here is an action shot of the swing in motion!
I'm going super fast!
-
Two old men sit and admire their handiwork.
They are enjoying a much deserved glass of water
after working hard in the hot-Mississippi-August-sun
to put the swing set together!
I showed Gramps my appreciation by
crawling up in his lap and falling asleep!
-
He said it was all worth it!
Quack Quack!
There is a lake near our house that has ducks.
I really like going to feed them!
I call them "Quack-quacks!"
-
This weekend Aunt Ginny came to visit and
we all went to a fun restaurant on the water!
It's a Jackson favorite that is famous for their fish and french fries.
It's a cool place made to look like an old boat,
and they serve your food in tin cups and plates.
And the waiter flips the corn bread way up in the air!
They have a lot of them! And you can feed them! They will come right up to you!

Big Shoes to Fill
I'm blessed to have so many wonderful people in my family!
I have wonderful grandparents and great-grandparents on both sides.
They are all really outstanding people and I am proud to follow in their foot steps.
But, they are big shoes to fill! :)
-
I can say "Ompa" really well now which is a lot of fun!
He calls me "my little gal!"

Ayise?
Yesterday afternoon we skyped with Uncle Michael, Aunt Rachel, and Cousin Alise. Since then I've been going to the computer about every 5 minutes and saying, "Ayise?"or "Please, Mommy? Ayise Please?" Mommy thinks this is very cute! She lets me look at pictures of Alise. I like that too, but it isn't as fun as live video. Alise is a lot of fun to watch because she is walking around now (with one hand free!). I can't wait to see her again! :)
Mommy's Back to School
Mommy couldn't bear to throw away the lovely flowers Daddy got her, but they were getting a very droopy. So, she "repurposed" them in little bowls of water.
-
They look pretty, don't you think?
We are having Ompah over for a special dinner tonight,
so they will make a nice centerpiece.
-
Mommy is also trying to get some home-maker jobs finished before she starts school in Sept.
First, she is trying different recipes from her Bread Cookbook.
Below is a cranberry ring with a cream cheese filling
and a dusting of powdered sugar.
Mommy wasn't too happy with the lop-sidedness of it,
but it did taste good!
-
And this is cheddar cheese bread.
Right out of the oven, it is very yummy by itself
or with a little butter.
It also make a great turkey sandwich later.
-
The other jobs Mommy wants to get done are not so fun...
clean the fridge
weed the flower beds
organize the closets
finish the play room & my room
-
I'll let you know how it goes!
